Laughter Yoga was created by Dr. Kataria, an Indian doctor who understood that most chronic illness were stored in the body and as a result, created real physical problems.
By introducing laughter to his patients, many of them were relieved of their symptoms. Stress and emotions are stored in the body, and by releasing them through laughter and movement, tension is decreased and physical pain is alleviated.
The body does not know the difference between fake laughter and real laughter. In order to receive the benefits of Laughter Yoga, one must engage in laughter for a minimum of ten minutes.
Laughter Yoga is a unique social health wellness experience. The session offers safe, gentle, and fun breathing exercises and simulated laughter techniques to enhance ones emotional, mental, and physical wellness.
Not only does it help alleviate stress. but the group offers a way to have a social connection with others who like to laugh. It provides a safe place to express your emotions without the judgement of others or importantly ourselves.
