Classes & Programs

In addition to our Resources pages, we offer several programs to assist people.  Please see our calendar to find dates, times and locations for support groups.

NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for family members, caregivers and loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. The hallmark of a NAMI support group is leveraging the collective knowledge and experience of the other participants. It can offer you practical advice on addressing issues related to mental illness and your loved one and gives you the appropriate space to have your personal needs met so that you can provide the best possible care for your family member.The NAMI Family Support Group is a 60-90 minute session free of charge. Attendance is optional and confidential. People are free to attend whenever they feel the need, and new participants are always welcome.

NAMI Family-to-Family is for families, caregivers and friends of individuals with mental illness. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness, increase coping skills, and empower participants to become advocates for their family members. The course consists of 12 two-and- a-half hour sessions. Trained family members teach the course who know what it is like to have a loved one living with mental illness. The Family-to-Family Program is offered at no cost to the participants.

Spiritual Support Group- Join with others in a supportive environment to learn forms of meditative prayer. Participants will find ways to reduce anxiety, stress and frustration; while exploring their own connections with the Divine.  Facilitated by Rev. Julie Goranson

Meeting of the Minds is a public education program from NAMI Northwoods. Come participate in an interactive meeting with guest speakers who are content experts in their respective fields related to mental illness. The public is welcome, free of charge! Children may attend, a sitter will be available.
